Our Vision
Bringing Jesus' love across the street
At the beginning of 2007, our church met for prayer one night a week for several weeks. The first week we met and asked God what he is calling us to as a church. What came from our time of prayer was that God is calling us to, “Bring Jesus love across the street.”
We met another week to ask the Lord how he wants to accomplish this vision through us. We believe that God has a prayer on his heart for this church and that he wants us to pray it back to him. So we met as a church and worshiped and then we each spent time quietly by ourselves listening to the Lord. We came back together to share our any words, impressions, pictures, or scripture verses that we received. Some common themes emerged from this prayer time.
We prayed over these themes for another week and met again to prayerfully craft a prayer for our vision, “Bringing Jesus’ love across the street.”
Please join us in praying this prayer regularly and asking God how we wants us to bring his love across the street to our neighbors, friends, family, community and world.
Our Vision Prayer
Dear Lord,
You have called us to bring Jesus’ love across the street!
Preparing the soil - Prayer
Lord, we seek you first in our own prayer times and as a church before we do anything else. You have promised to give us your Spirit-led strategies to love our neighbors as we come together in unity, in prayer and in worship. You have told us there are many ways to cross the street and that we must come to you first before we go to them. Please teach us who we are in you, expand our hearts with compassion for our neighbor, show us how to pray and what to do.
Planting the seeds - Message
Lord, as we pray prepare the condition of our neighbors’ hearts to receive the message of God’s love like the farmer who prepares the soil for the seed. Please give us your confidence and courage to sow the seed of your Word everywhere, regardless of where we think it should be sown, trusting that you know which hands and hearts are ready to receive the Word of God.
Watering the seeds – Friendship & Compassion
Lord, give us opportunities to water the seeds by showing your love through our friendships. Give us your eyes to see those who are broken and hurting and offer them your compassion. We pray that our neighbors will both see in us and hear through us the message, ‘God loves you just as you are and too much to leave you that way!’
Living in season - Time
Lord, if we are going to love our neighbors we need to be willing to stop for your divine interruptions in our busy schedules. Please give us the ability to create more time in our lives so that we can be available to neighbors who live literally next door and those we meet in surprising places.
You have called us to be different and counter cultural in a way that catches people’s attention and points them to you.
We praise you Lord for crossing the vast heavens to love us, now send us across our street to love our neighbors! Amen.
Our Purpose
We will depend on the Holy Spirit to draw people to Christ and His family, help them deepen their understanding of Christ’s character and love and develop their own Christlikeness, give them a place to demonstrate His power and live their lives declaring His praise!
